Lunch with a Financial Consultant

Mr. Patrick Yam, an experienced financial consultant, will be visiting UCSB on Monday, May 19th. He is interested in meeting for lunch with students who would like to learn more about the financial services business. The lunch will be held at noon in the faculty club on campus where there will be an informal Q & A between the Mr. Yam and the students, with 1 or 2 faculty members present. BEA is looking for a new Technology Officer

The Business Economics Association is looking for a new technology officer to take over the website. We are looking for someone with technical expertise in HTML who will be available for the 2008-2009 academic year. Business Classes at UCSB?

John Greathouse accomplished entrepreneur and professor of the (TMP) Technology Management Program at UCSB is coming in to speak on Tuesday, March 4th!

John Greathouse has held a number of senior executive positions with successful startups during the past fifteen years. At Computer Motion, he was the CFO and VP of Business Development. At Citrix Online (formerly Expertcity), Greathouse served as CFO and SVP of Strategic Development. At CallWave, he served as the SVP of Sales & Bus Dev. In his capacities at Computer Motion and Citrix; Greathouse spearheaded transactions which generated more than $350 million of shareholder value, including Computer Motion’s initial public offering and the sale of Expertcity to Citrix for over $230M. Greathouse is a CPA and holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School.

He plans on speaking about his accomplishments and also answering questions about the rapidly growing TMP program.

Chuck Sheldon, Founder of Network Hardware Resale, Inc

Chuck Sheldon, the founder and former CEO of Network Hardware Resale, Inc. will speak at the Business Economic Association’s next meeting about career paths and his experiences of building Network Hardware Resale (NHR) from a small business in the mid 1990s to becoming the largest provider of refurbished Cisco routers which brought in about $150+ million in revenue last year. His story should be of much interest to entrepreneurs and just about anyone interested in business. It is a story of success and growth with a winning business idea. The BEA has various meeting days available where small business owners and corporate representatives can come speak to students about their organization. If you wish to set a time to come in to speak to students, e-mail our Vice President, John Zandi at jzandi@gmail.com. The club meets on Tuesdays at 7pm.

We’re also looking for someone who is interested in handling the billboard portion of our advertising department. Responsibilities include transporting the billboard to and from campus, painting and updating it as needed. Paint and other utilities will be provided as needed.
