Hello everyone! The BEA will be having its first meeting of the year this Tuesday, October 7th, at 7pm in HSSB 1174. Our featured speaker, Sanjit Singh, is the CEO of the transportation and logistics company known as Kantana Corportation. Mr. Singh is a UCSB alumni who recieved an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. His company was launched in 2007 and has already grown to over $1 million in annual revenues. Mr. Singh will be spending the majority of his talk on the topics of sales and entrepreneurship.
Come to this event to learn more about these topics and about other career opportunities. Free pizza and drinks will be served. If you have any questions please feel free to direct them to any of the BEA officers.

Interested in investment banking? Check out this internship opening with Commerce Capital Group, an investment banking firm located in downtown Santa Barbara. CCG is a private investment bank providing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory, private placements and other financial advisory services, primarily to small and mid-sized companies. The BEA welcomes everyone back to another amazing school year in Santa Barbara. We are thrilled to announce that we have a great lineup of events for the Fall and plenty more for the Winter and Spring. Check out our calendar for the things to come.
And if you haven’t done so already, please come and start your membership. The BEA will be accepting membership dues in front of the UCEN on Monday the 22nd, Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th from 11am to 3pm. If you would like to sign up but cannot make it these days, feel free to contact any of the BEA officers and we will get you started as soon as we can.
We are looking forward to meeting with everyone and can’t wait to start this year off with a bang.

The Business Economics Association and Student Entrepreneurs Association; and Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed business fraternity, proudly present Jay Ferro, as a guest speaker for Spring Quarter. Come hear about Isla Vista’s Silvergreens and how it came to be while enjoying some delicious food catered by Silvergreens. Jay Ferro is a successful entrepreneur, and you find it extremely rewarding to hear his valuable advice on creating and running a business.
Jay Ferro graduated from UCSB summa cum laude with a degree in Business Economics. Immediately after graduating, at the age of 22, he secured a loan from Montecito Bank and Trust and started Silvergreens in 1994. Jay Ferro is also the creator and founder of of NutriCate, a receipt-based nutritional communication software for the restaurant industry.
Come May 27th, to the Theatre and Dance Building, Room 1701, located across from the Student Resource Building and HSSB.

Mr. Patrick Yam, an experienced financial consultant, will be visiting UCSB on Monday, May 19th. He is interested in meeting for lunch with students who would like to learn more about the financial services business. The lunch will be held at noon in the faculty club on campus where there will be an informal Q & A between the Mr. Yam and the students, with 1 or 2 faculty members present. John Greathouse accomplished entrepreneur and professor of the (TMP) Technology Management Program at UCSB is coming in to speak on Tuesday, March 4th!
John Greathouse has held a number of senior executive positions with successful startups during the past fifteen years. At Computer Motion, he was the CFO and VP of Business Development. At Citrix Online (formerly Expertcity), Greathouse served as CFO and SVP of Strategic Development. At CallWave, he served as the SVP of Sales & Bus Dev. In his capacities at Computer Motion and Citrix; Greathouse spearheaded transactions which generated more than $350 million of shareholder value, including Computer Motion’s initial public offering and the sale of Expertcity to Citrix for over $230M. Greathouse is a CPA and holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School.
He plans on speaking about his accomplishments and also answering questions about the rapidly growing TMP program.
